Work has started on resurfacing the stretch of the Kakamega-Mumias road between Shibuli and Lubao. Machinery arrived at the site over the weekend and grading is already underway on the first two kilometres.
Motorists and boda riders should expect delays during the day, especially between 9am and 4pm when the graders are working. Traffic is being controlled in one direction at a time, so a matatu trip that normally takes twenty minutes is taking closer to forty.
Traders at Lubao market have been asked to keep the roadside clear while work continues in that section.
If you use this road daily, plan for extra time or consider the route through Shieywe during peak hours.
