OnlineComrade is a noticeboard for Kakamega. Businesses, jobs, vacant houses, events, offers, things for sale, and news about what is happening around town — all posted by people who actually live here.

The idea is simple. You post once from your portal, choose what kind of post it is, and it lands on the right page by itself. Someone looking for a bedsitter finds it under houses. Someone hiring finds their advert under jobs. No forms to hunt for and no listing fees.

Businesses get a free page with their contacts, location, opening hours, products and customer reviews — useful for anyone who does not have a website and does not particularly want one. Verification is free and cannot be bought.

We do not sell anything ourselves, we take no commission, and no money passes through the site. People deal with each other directly, which is why the safety guidance is written plainly and why anything reported gets looked at.

The site is open all the time. Messages and reports are answered daily, usually within a day or two.

Cost: Free to browse, free to post, free to list a business, free to be verified. The only paid option is a premium business account, which raises the product limit from 15 to 50.

Commission: None. We never handle payments between buyers and sellers.

Verification: Free, and it cannot be bought. The checkmark confirms a business is real, not that it is good — that is what reviews are for.

Moderation: New posts are checked before going live. Anything reported is reviewed, and posts that break the rules are removed.

What we are not: A shop, an escrow service, or a party to any deal made through the site. We remove listings and close accounts, but we cannot recover money or settle disputes.
